Position Summary
The Controller is a strategic leader and trusted partner to the President, Board, and senior management. You'll oversee all financial aspects of the business, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, compliance, and financial operations, while guiding a small, dedicated team. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who can roll up their sleeves on the details, see the big picture, and help shape the future of a company with deep roots and a bright path ahead.
What You'll Do
Oversee the timely, accurate monthly close and prepare monthly financial reports (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) for the Board, senior management, and bank
Prepare the annual budget and quarterly forecasts to guide profitable planning
Prepare and use profitability reports to advise the President, Board, and senior management on results, challenges, and opportunities; contribute to business reviews and strategic planning
Partner with the outside accounting firm on the annual review of financial statements and processes
Oversee biannual physical inventory of paper, ink, plates, and other materials
Supervise the investment committee, the annual 401(k) plan audit, and Form 5500 filing
Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly sales and use tax filings and quarterly Oregon CAT filings
Lead weekly AR management and cash collection through customer communication and internal collaboration
Make customer credit decisions
Oversee billing and job costing, including monthly review of job billings and costs
Oversee or prepare all G/L account reconciliations
Oversee commissions tracking and payment and the accounts payable process

What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance
10+ years of progressive industry finance experience, including 5+ years as Controller or higher
Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, including working knowledge of GAAP
Detailed knowledge of sales/use tax law and broad knowledge of income tax law
Experience managing the financial side of a complex ERP system
Intermediate Excel and Word skills (pivot tables a plus)
Preferred: CPA, manufacturing experience, and 2+ years in public accounting
